4SC researches and develops targeted therapies for the treatment of cancer and autoimmune diseases. The 4SC in-house research team focuses on the underlying mechanisms of pathways in uncontrolled cell signaling and develops new drugs for specifically influencing and controlling signaling pathways by using methods from medicinal chemistry.  New, relevant diagnostic approaches and biomarkers are researched concurrently.  4SC is using biomarker programmes to select specific patient populations for the inclusion in advanced, extensive clinical studies and thus, raising the probability of success in the clinical study.

Focusing on the two indications of autoimmune diseases and cancer, carrying out targeted research at a relatively early stage and maintaining interdisciplinary project teams that contribute biological and chemical expertise to clinical development, enables 4SC to develop many projects simultaneously with a relatively lean structure and limited resources.
